Description

A flap disc is only as good as the plate it is built on, and this 180mm fibreglass backing plate is the base we use across our own production line. It is moulded from fibreglass mesh with a heat-resistant resin binder, which gives the plate the stiffness to keep a flap face flat at speed, without flexing or warping under grinding pressure.

The plate comes with a metal flange with 6 mounting holes, ready for disc assembly, and a 16 mm centre hole as standard (other bores available). The resin-impregnated fibre structure resists heat, moisture and edge tearing, so finished discs hold their shape for their whole working life.

Made in our 25-year-old factory on fully automatic presses, with each batch checked for flatness, thickness consistency and balance. Full range 75-180mm available, both 4-hole and 6-hole flange versions, in stock for fast delivery.

FAQ

What is a backing plate used for?

It is the rigid fibreglass base that abrasive flaps are bonded onto to make a flap disc. This plate is also sold to workshops that assemble their own flap discs.

4-hole or 6-hole, which do I need?

Both flange patterns are standard in the industry. The choice depends on the assembly fixture and the disc specification you produce – we stock both.

Can the centre hole be customised?

Yes, the centre hole can be produced to your required size.

What sizes are available?

The full range is 75mm, 100mm, 115mm, 125mm, 150mm and 180mm.

Do you support OEM?

Yes – custom hole patterns, flange type, colour and packing are all available from our factory.
